Total War is pretty demanding, due to the high body count 3D realtime battles, but FWIW – if you were interested – you could probably handle some more recent turn-based games like Age of Wonders 3 and Civ IV (maybe V, I don’t know how bad we’re talking on the hardware end).

It is! I keep meaning to give it a try, and also had my eyes on Space Hulk (although I’m less into the “40K” side of Warhammer, and it hasn’t exactly cleaned house on reviews)

wait, WTF’s wrong with me – Total War: Warhammer! I forgot when it released :-P

Great game for strategy and Warhammer fans. Very questionable DLC model (unsurprisingly), but I gave it a great review and stand by it

I’ve played so little :-(

I’d go with Doom, Abzu, and UC4. These are almost by default, given how little of the 2016 content I’ve played… but they are all deserving of recognition, so I’ll run with it :-)

How would you compare the control frustrations to its predecessors?

Since I last checked in I banged out the Day of the Tentacle remaster and have begun working through Uncharted 4. Loved Day of the Tentacle – I had never played that in my youth. The puzzles were actually more fun and less frustrating (trial and error) than Grim Fandango’s

I’ve barely had time to game lately at all. In the last couple of days I started working through a copy of Uncharted 4 that a friend loaned me. It’s actually pretty solid – I phrase it that way because I was not in love with the earlier entries in the series

I think the Switch is a great design. It’s going to / has pissed off a lot of the pixel counters, but I think it’s a given at this point that Nintendo is no longer in the power race. Their strength is in their software and in portable gaming at this time, and a console that can deliver those in addition to consoleish stuff is very appealing to me.…[Read more]

I might suggest a 1060 or – if you are feeling “spendy” (for a more casual PC gamer) even a 1070 – this is because given your requirements a card like that will last you a long long time. The 1050TI is remarkable for the amount of power it needs, though, and I agree it’s a good buy if you don’t want to touch the PSU. Still, I’ve never been happy…[Read more]

I’ve been working my way through Tomb Raider (2013). Finally.
