Barely any time to game, or write. I did finish Unfinished Swan the other day, though – really enjoyable, despite its flaws (kind of goes out on a whimper, although not as badly as I expected from older reviews)

Ah, you’re right – Dishonored 2 had skipped my mind! The first one was a holiday give back when it released, so this would be fitting! I might hold off on Civ until the usual expansion waves have passed – I love the new mechanics they are working on for it, though

I’m really digging the addition. It’s a smart move because it promotes activity by putting less pressure on the need to write something fluffed out beyond the source material

I’m going for it. I think at a per-project pay structure folks can help me out as they see fit. I’m a bit unclear how it works in that regard – where does one project end on Patreon and how do I launch a new one? Not sure… will have to figure it out

Interesting idea. I’m mulling over it. I’d be all in, but I worry about my ability to churn out content fast enough to “warrant” backing. I guess I could have a low asking rate, and if people aren’t interested and I don’t hit that then no harm done

I was going to suggest the more simple profile of the Roman eagle, but that symbolism was famously borrowed by another group, so… maybe not that one.

Is there a place where we can view the symbols and their meanings? A legend? Thanks for your hard work on this; it’s a nice feature

Honestly, it’s a bit hard to make out what I’m looking at with the eagle on the link. Might even need to be more heavily stylized so that the features pop even when really tiny? Although, it’s clearly recognizable as “different” from the others, even if it isn’t obvious what it is. So that’s good

I don’t know quite how complex or stylized you wanted it (e.g., purely a symbol?) – something like this could be cool (Emperor Augustus, founder of Rome). I just set the image tone to red and “cartoonified” it with Gimp

Most are long gone, but Looking Glass Studios made such wonderful work. Probably my favorite.

Cyan changed my gaming life with Myst and Riven. Sid Meier… Insomniac… I’m trying to think what I would say for contemporary devs. I guess I might go with CDPR for TW3. TW1 and TW2 were both deeply flawed, IMO, but something I loved nonetheless…[Read more]

Cool idea. I wonder if the founder emblem should be something “classical” – just riffing here, but some symbolism or imagery with Greco-Roman or Egyptian type flare that isn’t necessarily a gaming symbol but has that “it begins here” story to it

I’m currently working through a replay of System Shock 2, and trying out Far Cry 4 for the first time. The latter is surprisingly entertaining. I had never played a Far Cry before.
