The presentation was shit.

Less than two months from launch, Nintendo finally had their first presentation on their upcoming Switch console. Considering all other consoles usually get one over two years before a system launch, this […]

I’m predicting $300 for Console+JoyCons+Toaster, charge cable, HDMI cable and a bundled game (MK8+). And I too believe the toaster will be sold separately, except for somewhere around $59-69 with its own charger and HDMI cable.
The charge cable AFAICT will work on both the console itself and through the toaster, just like the 3DS does it with…[Read more]

This is where it’s at. You went in-depth on this. Indeed I hadn’t seen it. Let’s just let the other get buried.
Lemme add the things that stand out to me that you didn’t mention:
Laura Kate Dale, the single biggest source of rumors for the Switch, has her entire reputation riding on this presentation. I can’t wait to see what her batting average…[Read more]

Here’s a quick reminder that tomorrow at 8PM PT (11PM ET) Nintendo is holding an official presentation for the Nintendo Switch. They’re expected to announce an official launch date, a launch price and a list of launch window games. I’ll publish a recap article about it the next morning.
You can watch the live stream in these places:…[Read more]

I’m down for all that. But I still have to start and finish small projects from beginning to end first. Taking on too huge a project is a big problem of mine. I want to start small.
Right now I’m thinking like a Tetris style puzzle game except all the pieces are already fallen, and all you can do is rotate the fallen pieces (so long as nothing is…[Read more]

At the risk of sounding like a promotion, I wanted to share a neat website I came across that you can use to check how readable your writing is. When you’re done writing, just copy and paste your text into this thing and check out what needs fixin’. I’ve only played around with it so far, but it seems useful as fuuuuck.

GameMaker 2 is in beta right now, so the developers made GameMaker Studio 1.x for free some time ago. I only just noticed yesterday and downloaded it (1.x not 2) and am only getting myself reacquainted with it. But I can already feel the urge to spend countless hours on it again; the urge that captivated me in my college days and caused me to miss…[Read more]

Merry Christmas, you lovable goofs, you. Always getting yourselves into misadventures leading to a grand moral lesson in the end.
I gave video game gifts to my old nephews and my young cousins. I didn’t get anything game related myself; I got a Harley Quinn t-shirt and a hardcover, string-bound copy of Sun Tzu’s The Art of War.
One of my…[Read more]

I decided to go over several reviews from huge gaming publications to see what elements they all share. I looked at The Last Guardian reviews from GameSpot, IGN, The Jimquisition, Destructoid, Game Informer and Eurogamer. I scrutinized their structure, their style of writing and even their grading format. Join me as I lay out what I found:
THE IN…[Read more]

If I had written a review for No Man’s Sky, I’m 95% sure I would have gotten it wrong. Although I was enjoying my time with the game, I was completely unaware of the false expectations that had surrounded it. So even though giving a general idea of how much fun I had with the game would be honest, it wouldn’t necessarily be true for many…[Read more]

I thought it was the right decision and I would do it again.
…at least until you mentioned a special spoiler notice HOLY SHIT why didn’t I think about that? I’m kicking myself for not having thought of that at the time.

It’s been a… challenging gaming season for me. The game I’ve spent the most time on this year is a mobile game from 2014 (?) when on the toilet.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided wins top honors for me. The game was right in my wheelhouse. No, not only was it in my wheelhouse… it pointed a gun at my head and said, “look at me. I am de captain.”

At first, I kept a notebook next to me and wrote down things that stood out to me as I played. Later, I found this part to be completely unnecessary for my writing style. It made me write too wordy and include too many things which, in the long run, weren’t all that important to the overall experience.
As I play the game, I try to figure out…[Read more]

I’m swamped. I only get enough time to play 3DS on the weekends.
Oh, I’m considering buying The Last Guardian, but I’m waiting for more reviews. The ratings of reviewers I trust have been rather mixed. I loved Shadow of the Colossus but TLG looks like they upped the frustration three-fold. I’m hoping an update addresses the frame rate and…[Read more]
