Yes, definitely. Parts of it are already completed and running on every news article and review. It’s a bit of a process though. In order to link the ads the game must be linked to the article(connected) and ad must be linked to that game. At the current time I’ve only got about 75 ads for 40ish games in our database. We’re going to be working on…[Read more]

Is this price comparison tool still a thing? I haven’t seen it on review pages.

  • Fudge Golem replied to the topic Input Requested – Further integration of Patreon. in the forum Shooting the Shit 7 years, 9 months ago

To clarify by what I meant by saying reviews, news, and gaming articles should be free: I meant freely available, not that they are exempt from all types of monetizing.

Also, there are some in depth investigative journalism pieces I am planning. In depth interviews, research into the history of games, or other detailed or even multi-part…[Read more]

I acknowledge that everyone is free to run their Patreon however they want, but I’d strongly advise anyone against paywalling the main content we want this site to provide, namely reviews, news, and game-related articles.

I’m against this for two reasons; one we need more content to draw in more readers, and two, I know paywalls are a huge…[Read more]

It’s that time of month again, wait no, not that time, free games on Xbox time. Sheesh! Anyway, if you can pull yourself away from Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Wolfenstein 2 and Super Lucky’s Tale long enough […]

So the big issue for me is the potential for content to be temporarily locked behind a paywall. I’d like to at least discuss setting some guidelines for how this can be used here. A good example would be if some gaming news breaks, i.e. “Major Nelson announces 4 new Xbox One backwards compatible games,” this should be considered ‘public domain’…[Read more]

Might as well update this page as well. I’m looking further into the Patreon API and I believe I may have finally wrapped my head around how to use it. I’ll be posting a new thread in the general chat area of the forums(Shooting the Shit) so that we can generate a good discussion on the subject. Integrating the API into the core of what we do here…[Read more]

Hello everyone. I’m posting this in the general area to begin but will be moving this to the Error Reporting section by Thanksgiving 2017. You can consider this an announcement as well as a discussion and debugging thread all in one.

So here’s the deal, Patreon launched their API today and opened up a community for us developers to help shape the…[Read more]

I finally saw the new IT move and I was not a fan. I loved some of the horrible things Pennywise turned into to personalize each kid’s fear, but other than that, it felt like the movie was missing pieces.

I’m more of a fan of the original movie. Practical effects, more of the kids taking an active role in controlling their own power of belief…[Read more]

Thanks for the pointers. I think I’m going to pick up some software/equipment to do videos on Black Friday.

It will be a fun new thing for me to learn!

So this should be fixed now. I do not know if this method will continue to work in the future as most sites frown upon it. I have to scrape the id off of the patreon user page so that I can direct traffic directly to the become a patron page. Patreons API is still a bit rough and I’m not even sure if they’ve realized the potential of sites like…[Read more]

  • Fudge Golem replied to the topic What are your next gaming purchases going to be? in the forum Shooting the Shit 7 years, 10 months ago

Yeah, I’ve never found an ARPG I’ve loved as much as Diablo II. Diablo III I can’t even look at. Grim Dawn and Path of Exile were both pretty close, but no Diablo II’s.

I think FBW will be a better game. I liked SoT a lot, but FBW looks like the GAME itself is more deep.

Meanwhile, I’m a weak weak sack of poo – I just bought Grim Dawn on sale on GoG :-( It was a good price, and a HATE what they did with Diablo 3 and would like to experience a more quality ARPG

Tabletop RPGs are not for everyone, I get it. I just love getting together with friends and telling a story as a group. It never goes how you expect it to, which is half the fun.

That passion and follow through is awesome. You should write up this history sometime in a blog or blog series here, I’m sure other gamers would like to read it and be inspired for their own projects.

My love for gaming was rekindled in my teenage years due to my love for open wheel race cars. Indy and Formula 1 mostly. I couldn’t afford a real race car so i used games too scratch that itch.

On the nerdier side… i am a big collector of entertainment. Vintage movie formats, retro games and computers, X-Men comics and various CCG’s. I have…[Read more]

Oh  man, the history here is a lot longer than most know. This started for me as electrickz.com in 2000. I was writing reviews in a notebook while working at six flags. Building every page manually. In 2003-ish i moved the work over to xblgamer.com which was any Xbox focused site. Then in June of 2006 i registered this domain and started bugging…[Read more]

Just trying to see what everyone here does beside work and play video games!

As for my personal fudgetastic-ness, I’m a huge reader. Last year I did the 52-week challenge and read 57 books. This year I’m only around 20-something books. But I did get through the Worm web serial. That’s no small feat, as it would be over 7,000 pages long if it…[Read more]
