See, even that would be a good debate though, as you can usually rationalize what you enjoyed. That’s all that really matters in a debate.

I always feel like being a negative nancy doesn’t work out in the long run. I try to remain positive while being constructive about the flaws. It’s hard sometimes, but there’s actually a lot you can do with constructive feedback.
On a related note, I’ve always wanted to do a debate with someone who has a differing opinion than me on a game.…[Read more]

Well, I haven’t been on in a while. Big reason why that was though, and that was moving to a different town. Smaller than what I’m used to, but it’s quaint and peaceful.
That also means I haven’t been posting like I used to, which will get fixed as soon as I find a space for my laptop. I have a few review drafts I’m working on,…[Read more]

So, I was a part of a group a while back where all the mods used to be able to communicate more easily with one another to discuss problems, come up with ideas for the group collectively, and just talk to each other, discussing whatever. Is that possible on here, or would that require something this site isn’t currently capable of? Food for thought.

Another obvious title, but let’s hear it. What were the games that excited you the most from this year’s E3 showing? Here’s my list:
– Days Gone
– God of War 4
– Detroit: Become Human
– Sea of Thieves
– Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (yes, that zero-G space combat looked awesome)
– Dishonored 2
– Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
– Horizon:…[Read more]

Ended up not doing the stream cuz no votes lol. Also, I’m on Eastern Time. Might do something tomorrow or Wednesday, but early in the morning cuz of other obligations this week.
I actually forgot E3 started today till after the EA conference was over. Haven’t been too into gaming news today, given other events of late.

Problem is, I’ve no idea what to stream. I have 5 options I’m debating:
– Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
– Bloodborne
– The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
– Dragon Age: Inquisition
– Batman: Arkham Knight
So, the question for everyone is…which do you wanna see me play more?
BTW, it’ll be via Twitch. My username there is soulharvester45.

Joel Castro started the topic Never Hate a Video Game in the forum Shooting the Shit 8 years, 5 months ago
There are a few articles on the web about filmmaker Quentin Tarantino saying something along the lines of “never hate a movie.” His reasoning is that, if you hate something, that means it just plain bothers you on a personal level. Why would you do that to yourself, he asks. He says it’s easier to simply not like a movie, because at least then you…[Read more]

I’ve wanted to try that game, but alas, my funds aren’t exactly great for the moment. The interactive narrative genre has halways fascinated me, ever since I played Ether One, which is arguably my current favorite of said genre. I’ve also wanted to look at The Beginner’s Guide.

Currently playing Gone Home, since it’s free on PlayStation Plus this month. It’s actually quite an engaging little title. Never thought looking through a house could be so entertaining, but…there it is. The story might not be that amazing (or even original), but the way it’s told is what makes it great to me. I wish so many people wouldn’t…[Read more]

Joel Castro started the topic Why Gamers Should Take Their Medium More Seriously in the forum Shooting the Shit 8 years, 5 months ago
Lately, I’ve been seeing a mentality amongst gamers, and it pertains a lot to recent games finally deciding to tackle heavier topics. The mentality is that, if a game is tackling a heavy topic, it will inevitably have what is considered “bad” gameplay, and that it will be less “fun” to play than other games that might have, say, a bunch of…[Read more]

Joel Castro replied to the topic Genre Busting in Video Games in the forum Shooting the Shit 8 years, 5 months ago
True, and for those games it works (well…maybe for the former better than the latter). But the games that are more game-y, for lack of a better term, there isn’t much in the vocabulary that allows a formal critique to feel unique to the medium. At least not fully, even though we’re getting closer every year.

Oh well, I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one.
As to the topic at hand, I’m currently trying to run through the entire Assassin’s Creed series once again. It remains a favorite series of mine, even though the most recent installments seem to miss a lot of what made the older games so great in the first place. Starting from…[Read more]
