Crash Bandicoot hasn’t aged the best, I’ll admit that off the bat (thought the Spyro games were much better designed overall as platformers). But still, for 32-bit platformers, they were pretty fun and unique. I replayed them last week, and I only found the original game to be a bit on the clunky side. The other two were a lot of fun, at least for me.

Gotta admit, I felt a bit of pride when I read that two of my own reviews were among the most viewed pages. I’ve never had so many people read my stuff before. It’s…not something I’m used to. Great job on the site so far, man. Hopefully it can grow into something even more awesome than it already is.

Everyone has a list of his or her favorite video games. Most people like to put them up as a numbered list, but I feel this becomes a ranking system, not a personal list of games that have influenced your life at some point. I’m guilty of doing this in the past, but here I’m gonna try something different. I’m going to list my personal favor…[Read more]

Ehh, Destiny is more a mixed bag for people, though I still enjoy it immensely. The combat is what I consider to be zen, and that’s what pulls me back (I’m that weirdo who couldn’t care less about loot in a loot-fest. Just make the combat good and I’ll come back for that alone). I was thinking more universally praised games for ones people loved.…[Read more]

Hell, I’ll go out on a limb and say the entire RE series. I prefer the more psychological horror of Silent Hill when it comes to getting spooked.

Title is obvious. What games exist that, in spite of everyone praising it to high heavens, you just cannot see what they’re talking about.
I’ll go first with (sorry, Elheber) Resident Evil 4. I’m sorry, but I don’t find this game enjoyable in the slightest. It has its scary moments, but it’s ultimately hampered by the unnecessary campy tone,…[Read more]

Or there could be other solutions that have yet to be revealed. He only gave 2 examples, and when it comes to emergent gameplay, there are still scripts to follow either way. I think you’re reading too much into one solitary encounter before playing the game for yourself. For all you know, there could very well be a solution where you use bombs to…[Read more]

Funny thing is, I got to playing Chrono Trigger in 2011. And immediately I was enthralled by it. I know people like to use nostalgia to remember old games, but holy crap, Chrono Trigger ended up being timeless overall.

Don’t really know if Nintendo would make it to the top this generation, honestly. I LOVE Nintendo games, but I didn’t grow up with Nintendo as much as I did with Sony. Metroid and Zelda are my favorite franchises of theirs, and I came to them way too late in life.

I look forward to these kinds of games, honestly. As long as they adhere by the quality set by games like Gone Home, Ether One, The Beginner’s Guide, The Stanley Parable, and even P.T. (you know it fits that category), then I can’t wait for more of these experiences. I just wish people wouldn’t just dismiss them offhand just for having one…[Read more]

We all started somewhere, so what were the games that you belive were your absolute favorites during their respective generations? I’ll start:
4th: Chrono Trigger
5th: Xenogears
6th: Metroid Prime/Shadow of the Colossus
7th: The Last of Us/Dark Souls
8th (so far): The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

It’s all so subjective though, and I can’t really fault anybody for giving a game a certain score if I felt they were genuine in their opinion, hence why I actually read reviews instead of focus on the number. If I had my way, I’d personally never give a numerical score to a game, because I feel it detracts from what I’m actually trying to say.…[Read more]

Yeah, I knew they wouldn’t do that, honestly, considering we already had two previous fakeouts before. And that’s why I never listen to early marketing, especially if a game isn’t getting released within the same year. Things all too frequently change. Go in without expectations, and you’ll find yourself less inclined to compare promotional…[Read more]

Well, it was a bit abrupt, I will give you that. But, at the same time, the title still makes sense, giving that Nate goes straight at the end. It’s just a different context.

Okay, so I wanted to just get a few things off my chest. Don’t worry, I won’t ramble. It’s just my outlook against the cynicism that a few people have with the gaming industry (not aimed at anyone in particular, I promise).
It’s everywhere. Everyone just goes on and on about how gaming isn’t what it used to be. It’s all corporate greed this…[Read more]

The ending? Really? I thought it was the perfect way to end the series. The only thing I’d say about the final act is that it dragged on a bit longer than it needed to. Otherwise, from a narrative perspective, I felt it was well-handled. No need for things to end on a heavy note in a naturally lighthearted adventure. It ended on a high note for…[Read more]

Ehh, that climbing pick was a take or leave it kind of deal, and the snowman says, it wasn’t a thing that added or removed from the experience. It was a cool little late game gimmick that was appreciated where it was used. And I felt the final part of the game was paced in such a way that it didn’t feel like I didn’t get to use it for too little…[Read more]

I think you're worrying about this a little too much. I think this is a more modern take on the formula established with the very first Legend of Zelda game, where everything seemed open-ended and fully […]
