Funny thing is, I got to playing Chrono Trigger in 2011. And immediately I was enthralled by it. I know people like to use nostalgia to remember old games, but holy crap, Chrono Trigger ended up being timeless overall.

I never did beat Chrono Trigger. I feel like if I had been a little older when I first played it, I may have liked it a lot more. I think it might’ve been my first JRPG ever, so the active time battle thing wasn’t as great a sell. And the story got 2deep for my frail little mind.
BTW, I have to give special mention to Half-Life. Since it’s on the…[Read more]

I haven’t yet tried any of the FPE games, but there are a few I’m interested in. As long as it has an entertaining story in some way I’m ok with it, we don’t always have a shoot something.

I agree with you – it seems an odd ask with the XBox and PC versions having been out for so long by then. Interestingly, at this time they are still holding the non-promotional price of RotTR in the 50-60 range […]

I wish I could play those games on my WiiU! *grumbles while motioning angrily in Nintendos general direction*

I do have an alt I use for testing. You’ve also got special privileges, if anything you should have more options, not less. I’ll take a look at it tomorrow when I’m at work, I can do some debugging today, but fixing it code-wise will happen on the work computer.
I don’t have that problem since I’m admin, I can even edit your articles if I chose…[Read more]

I don't know about paying full price for a game that's a year old. It comes with all DLC/extras it had released, I would assume.

The Stanley Parable blew my mind, it was so good. And my love of P.T. is well documented. The idea of playing Resident Evil, in all its survival & item management glory, but in the more vulnerable style of a FPE… it just… wow… words cannot express how much that concept would excite me.

Don’t really know if Nintendo would make it to the top this generation, honestly. I LOVE Nintendo games, but I didn’t grow up with Nintendo as much as I did with Sony. Metroid and Zelda are my favorite franchises of theirs, and I came to them way too late in life.

3rd: Metroid
4th: Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
5th: 007 Goldeneye
6th: Resident Evil 4
7th: Uncharted 2
8th: Super Smash Bros 4
I feel bad for Shadow of the Colossus. It was just unlucky to be in the same generation as my favorite game of all time RE4.
I never played The Last of Us until this generation. It would have beaten…[Read more]

I look forward to these kinds of games, honestly. As long as they adhere by the quality set by games like Gone Home, Ether One, The Beginner’s Guide, The Stanley Parable, and even P.T. (you know it fits that category), then I can’t wait for more of these experiences. I just wish people wouldn’t just dismiss them offhand just for having one…[Read more]

First Person Exploration (FPE) games, or “walking simulators,” are going to be a dominant genre thanks to VR. Or at least that’s my prediction.
Just a year ago, you couldn’t throw a pebble at random without hitting some new FPE game like The Beginner’s Guide or Beyond Eyes. The genre became a staple of indie games because they’re so easy to make…[Read more]

Indeed, I’m still locked out. In the WordPress Dashboard, under Posts, my blog post title is listed there. However, it isn’t a clickable link like my reviews/articles. And when I hover over it, the usual “edit/full edit” links don’t appear. Instead I’m only shown a “view” link that takes me to the public page.
Can you edit your own blogs, sn0w?…[Read more]

Oh, I love these, but I can never choose just one game.
1st: Pong, because everything was basically Pong, or a clone of Pong.
2nd: Atari 2600 era, River Raid, Keystone Kapers, Kaboom!
3rd: Mylons Secret Castle, SMB 1-3, Bad Dudes(Arcade & NES)
4th: Final Fantasy IV & VI, SMB World, F1 Pole Position(racing with my dad, best times ever),…[Read more]

Yeah, I view the sub-scores as a reinforcement of the overall score, but they are not mandatory. The overall score is only required because we take an average of that score and apply it to the game on the game specific page, otherwise that probably wouldn’t be required either. I do feel it is important though, if a game averages 75 but has a lot…[Read more]
