Yes, Dead Island 2 is Still in Development

THQ Nordic have given fans their bi-annual reminder that the sequel to post-apocalyptic paradise is still in development, despite having been delayed for 5 years.

During a Q5 Report for 2019, THQ Nordic CEO Lars Wingefors announced that 80 games are in development, one of which being Dead Island 2 which is still slated for a release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One which could hint that something may be shown at E3 given both Sony and Microsoft are getting ready to enter the next generation of consoles.

Dead Island 2 has had a rough couple of years, first being handed to Techland but that plan went bust when the Polish studio started focusing on Dying Light, then Dying Light 2. Then in 2012 Yager Development scored the contract to develop the game after Techland quit. After what sounded like a fallout between studio and publisher, the game was picked up by Sumo Digital who are now working on the game.

Although this is pure speculation, the game may have a presence at E3 as Wingefors also stated in a press release that they have “well-positioned pipeline and many marketing activities ahead – including both E3 and Gamescom”.
