Microsoft has finally unveiled the initial batch of Xbox 360 games that can be played on the Xbox One. Two weeks ago we posted an article on a list of 117 games that were known or suspected to be among the initial backwards compatible games out, based on information from finder.com.au. Today we got the official list, and our disappointment cannot be understated. Not just because we were wrong, we accept that our list was apparently too ambitious. But with only a handful of popular games on the official list, this is downright embarrassing to Microsoft and Xbox fans around the globe. At a critical time when the Xbox brand needs as much positive response as possible, Microsoft couldn’t possibly have screwed up one of the highlights from E3 this year right? While there was obviously no way the initial batch could satisfy everyone, only 8 of the games announced are in the top 50 most requested on the xbox.uservoice.com feedback page. Almost half of those are simply there as an added incentive to buy newly released games like Fallout 4, Rainbow Six: Siege, and Just Cause 3.

However there is a small glimmer of hope, as 7 more titles from the top 50 most requested have been announced for the second batch of backwards compatibility games to be added. Mike Ybarra, Director of Program Management for Xbox has stated: “Our launch of 104 titles on Nov. 12 is just the beginning. You can expect new Xbox One Backward Compatible games to be announced on a regular basis, starting in December. More titles are on the way. Stay tuned because this just the beginning of a long list of Xbox 360 games that will run on Xbox One.”  The seven titles mentioned above, expected to be among the additions in December, are listed below.

While it is nice that these 7 games are being added to the backwards compatibility program in the near future
