How to make Norse mythology your enemy with one simple step
Norse Mythology certainly seems to be a big inspiration for games recently, and as a huge mythology buff, I absolutely love it. Through the Woods uses Norse mythology for the sole purpose of scaring the ever-loving crap out of you. Many of you have probably heard of this game before as it was released on PC back in 2016. But finally, it is gracing consoles starting today on Xbox One. It will be coming out on PlayStation 4 on the 8th of this month.
The game follows a woman wandering around the woods (at night of course) searching for her missing son. All of the areas and tales experienced throughout the game have been heavily influenced by Norse folklore much like Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The horror is supposedly quite intense with a mixture of different horror tropes being employed. If the goal is to reduce me to a shaking pile of tears, then perhaps they’ve hit their mark.
When the game was originally released, it was very well received and still has a mostly positive rating on Steam. So if you prefer playing games on consoles, you now have your chance either today or May 8th on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 respectively. Of course, you can still buy it on PC if you have missed it up until this point.
