Steam has let slip a new DLC for Borderlands 2.

Titled ‘Commander Lilith & The Fight for Sanctuary’, the DLC is expected to bridge the 6 year gap between Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3 through new zones, a new rarity and a level cap increase.

The leak was discovered on SteamDB after months of speculation and mystery depots on the site. Since then, a slew of screenshots and information regarding the DLC have been dropped, including this description:

“Return to the award winning shooter-looter for a new adventure that sets the stage for the upcoming Borderlands 3. Sanctuary is under siege, the Vault’s map has been stolen and a toxic gas is poisoning Pandora. Fight new bosses, explore new zones, get new loot (including an entirely new tier beyond Legendary) and join up with Lilith and the Crimson Raiders to take on a deranged villain hell-bent on ruling the planet

Returning players can pursue an increased level cap of 80, while newcomers can automatically boost to level 30 and dive straight into the action.”

Screenshots have also been found (link) which highlight a plethora of new features, including the new loot rarity which is aptly called ‘rainbow tier’. This is the first content update to the game in a few years and will offer a look into the transition from Pandora to space.

It is also rumored to be completely free.

Gamelust, with YouTuber Supmatto discovered the depots back in October for the Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 2. It’s still unclear whether the Pre-Sequel will receive a DLC as it was assumed that the depots were connected to the remastered texture pack.

Borderlands 3, announced in April, is the game’s first entry in the franchise in 4 years and features a whole host of new features, including a gun with legs. The game is set to make an appearance at E3 2019.

Borderlands 3 is out September 13th on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The DLC is rumored to be out 9th June.
