Red Dead Redemption 2 Online Exits Beta With A Massive Update

The online portion of Rockstar's acclaimed Western brings new changes.

Several months after the critical release of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar has released an essential update to its multiplayer component, bringing in many additional features that include daily challenges, balancing improvements, new co-op missions, and much more. The company has listened to player feedback, whilst charging up the game out of its beta phase and into expanded territory, giving the players what they finally have been craving for.

With the addition of fresh co-op missions for both honorable and dishonorable players, chronicled as “A Land of Opportunities”, gamers may assist Mrs. LeClerk in searching for answers surrounding the murder of her love, as well as battling the Del Lobos and saving Valentine. The dark side, or the Outlaw player, can stage a highway robbery with Samson Finch and other troubles, while the light side, the Gunslinger, battles Del Lobos and attempts to save the town of Valentine. Either arc will eventually bring the player to an encounter that will occur in Blackwater.More characters from the world of Red Dead Redemption will appear as Free Roam Missions that will available throughout the map, including the ever-so-filthy siblings that reside at Aberdeen Farm. Dynamic Events will be implemented for players to interact with through the moments with random townsfolk and travelers.

If you want to have more downtime with your posse or other cowboys riding throughout the map, games of poker can now be initiated in some areas of the game. Posse Versus contests will also allow members to participate in three mini-contests amongst one another: Biggest Fish Contest, Bird Shooting Contest, and Herb Picking Contest.
More those craving to shoot one another, Showdown Mode offers a territory-based battlefield where the most held positions that one team can control over the other will be the victor. Revolver connoisseurs may acquire the LeMat Revolver for some intense firepower. New clothing items and emotes are also available, such as Ponchos, a highly requested item from the community, and Throat Slit and Flip Off.

Different playstyles can now be applied to those who wish to experience the free roam aspect of the online multiplayer in other ways. The default style, Offensive, will be the usual way open-world online is played, with other players being able to attack you and vice versa, and Defensive will be the safe bubble for those who desire to explore and avoid trouble with other online members. In addition to this, Rockstar has administered a hostility system to track progressive behavior among the players that enter Red Dead Online, showcasing who may be trouble or perhaps friendly. The system doesn’t apply to structured events like Races, Showdowns, and Free Roam Events. Moreover, a lower hostile player that is killed but doesn’t retaliate will have the chance to “press charges” against their attacker that will increase their Hostility value.

As the online updates its tentacles of gameplay so does the improvements for movement, balancing, and cues. Getting a headshot via auto-aim tracking has been removed for more challenging gameplay. Quicker weapon swaps will make changing your gear a bit more flowy, a new control scheme for FPS, and instant projectile lighting. Rockstar has also removed all PvP-related Daily Challenges in Free Roam in exchange for new Daily Challenges and Rewards; those going after Free Roam missions will have more of an advantage with the increased global signal timers that alert nearby other nearby players in a delayed fashion.

More updates are said to arrive in the coming weeks, such as more Showdown modes, additional characters, gunslinger roles, and clothing items. Those with a PS4 can now play Red Dead Online without PS Plus until the 27th of this month.
