Epic Games lays MOBA to rest
Epic Games have announced that their free to play online battle arena Paragon will be closing its doors on the 26th April following a decrease in player count. The website now displays a post published by The Paragon Team say they have “failed you” (referring to the players):
We didn’t execute well enough to deliver on the promise of Paragon. We have failed you — despite the team’s incredibly hard work — and we’re sorry.
The closure is because of Paragon being a “MOBA that retains enough players to be sustainable” which basically means the player base is dwindling. Epic Games have offered a full refund to anyone who brought Paragon trying to “make this right”. Fans have reacted with an outcry from some Youtubers like RGSACE blaming Fortnite for the closure.
Others have taken to Twitter to voice their despair:
It's painful to me seeing @Paragon shutting down. The potential is massive, but the devs just won't listen! If they had removed the cards, this would have been a slam dunk. Just normalize the game and let us fight and conquer. Would have been great.
I really liked the combat :

Paragon ultimately failed because it entered an oversaturated market with games like Overwatch and Paladins dominating the genre. It just goes to show how no matter how awesome your game is at the end of the day it boils down to the player’s opinion. Paragon will join Battleborn in MOBA shooter heaven.
