Welcome to the first ever edition of level select!
Each week, we’ll be taking a look at 4 levels created by users in Super Mario Maker 2. You’ll be able to play the levels by entering the code provided. The first three levels will be ones that I’ve played and recommend while the fourth one will be my favourite of the week.
Without further ado, let’s hop into our first level.
This is a course that has you dodging fire-breathing piranha plants left and right.
Island of Giants lives up to its name and while the supersized Goombas and Koopas can be intimidating, patience and music blocks can help you reach the goal without suffering too badly. Overall, a pretty neat course that isn’t too dificult.

Sky is one of those levels where it’s super easy to get to the flag. In fact, there is nothing stopping you from getting to the flag.
Once you grab the bullet bill mask, you’re free to take a leap and head for the flag. Currently, the speed run record stands at 5 seconds but I can see people competing to bring that number down.

Difficulty Rating: 1/10
This appropriately-named level is simple enough, providing you can run fast enough.
Koopalings arrived in the latest (and last) update for Mario Maker 2 and this is a perfect level to showcase the new enemies. You have the choice to either run through and ignore them or you can take them out one by one but apart from these siblings, the level doesn’t really have that much to offer.
Course Rating: 7/10
Difficulty Rating: 2/10
I chose this level because of its claw swinging section.
Trying to determine whether I was going to make it to the next claw without falling into the saw was frustrating, but eventually rewarding. I definitely recommend checking out this level if you want something that sits between ‘not too hard’ and ‘challenging’.
Course Rating: 9/10
Difficulty Rating: 6/10
