Larian Studios tease third game in an ancient series
Larian Studios – creators of the Divinity: Original Sin franchise have a teaser on their site.
It’s a simple one: an animation of the number three in Roman numerals. On the surface there’s not much information to gather here, but Twitter user kunken has discovered a series of references when inspecting the page source.

A string of tweets (found above) reveal that analysing the video reveals a copyright line, referencing Baldur’s gate, Dungeons and Dragons and Wizards of the Coasts.
Wizards of the Coasts is the company responsible producing multiple editions of the tabletop game Dungeons and Dragons. Baldur’s Gate is a series of video games set in the Forgotten Realms DND campaign.
The franchise has found success since its beginnings in 1998, being developed by a handful of different developers including BioWare and Black Isle Studios. Now, it seems that the torch has been passed onto Larian Studios who, if you were unaware, are the creators of the Divinity: Original Sin series which recently found success through its sequel.
While nothing is confirmed, I don’t believe it’s a coincidence that a teaser has begun just before E3 2019, which could be the world premiere location for a possible third game in the series. The last release was the DLC Siege of Dragonspear in 2016 for 2013’s enhanced edition of the original game. The expansion marked the first piece of new content in 15 years. Looks like that record is about to be broken.
In the meantime, Divinity: Original Sin 2 is out now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
