Dirt: Rally for consoles coming someday, Someday, SOMEDAY!!!

And it’s [un]official! Dirt: Rally, coming to your XBox One and PS4, date TBD!

Maybe.

So the image at right (the Taiwanese video game rating board’s listing of Dirt: Rally) shows possible release in both PS4 and XBox One flavors, at least in Taiwan. Credit to @lifelower (https://twitter.com/lifelower/status/671855736318590976/photo/1) for the news.

Given the voracious appetite for video games in Taiwan, China, Korea, etc., the fact that this appears on an official website hints at Dirt’s eventual/ imminent return to consoles, not seen since 2011’s excellent Dirt 3 and 2012’s somewhat lackluster Dirt Showdown.

The current speculation is that this will be part of XBox’s Preview program (think Steam Early Release, i.e.: buy a beta version and receive updates until/if there’s a full release), but this might prove fortunate, timing wise: the chatter under lifelower’s tweet believes it’s on track for a Q1 2016 release!

Dirt: Rally promises a return to traditional rally racing with sim handling, weather, repairs, and of course muddy Wales and hot, rocky Greece.

Great news, rally fans, if true. But in this dark age of no console rally titles—and little in the way of rally games/coverage/sponsors/support as a whole—there is light on the horizon.
