Joel Castro started the topic New series – Deconstructed Games in the forum Shooting the Shit 8 years, 3 months ago
I started a new series. It basically boils down to me analyzing games a bit deeper, and even taking them apart so as to see what they’re trying to say. I started with an easy one in Spec Ops: The Line, but I intend to do the same for divisive games like BioShock Infinite, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and even Metal Gear Solid 2 (the latter will…[Read more]

I’m a sucker for things that take well known tropes and/or cliches, and decide to say “hey, maybe this kind of thing isn’t as realistic as we think. Let’s show people why!” This is called a deconstruction, and it […]

Joel Castro commented on the post, How to Fix "Metal Gear Survive" – Backseat Gamer 8 years, 3 months ago
If Konami actually cared, they'd sell the rights to Metal Gear to someone who actually cares about the franchise. Same goes with Castlevania and Silent Hill, because they've constantly proven that they […]

Well, its going to be about consumers and not big publishers (for once)

Seriously, anybody home? I feel like we’ve hit the summer doldrums too hard.
Anyways, letting everyone know my Shadow of the Colossus review is being worked on as we speak, as well as another blog. The topic of the latter is on people taking responsibility for getting hyped about games, since No Man’s Sky and its release put the icing on the…[Read more]

Joel Castro started the topic I'm sorry, but I won't be reviewing No Man's Sky…Not yet anyways in the forum Shooting the Shit 8 years, 3 months ago
There’s really only one reason for it though, and it feels small, but it actually talks enormously about the kind of game it is. People will always have a different kind of experience with this kind of game, due to the nature of how you start and the size of it all. To base a review on what I’ve experienced throughout the game when others are…[Read more]

Joel Castro replied to the topic What Are You Currently Playing? in the forum Shooting the Shit 8 years, 3 months ago
Its there, but it takes a while to unlock. It all has to do with what Atlas’s place is in the galaxy. One species is terrified of it for some reason, but idk why yet.

Playing No Man’s Sky still. It’s just a great way to relax and explore.

It’s finally here! No Man’s Sky, a game that has existed for at least 3 years, has finally arrived. This isn’t a review. This is just my thoughts on the game based on at least a few days worth of play time. I w […]

Joel Castro replied to the topic How Do I Get Hosted on a Twitch Stream? in the forum Shooting the Shit 8 years, 3 months ago
Could you do the same for me? I think Twitch would be a better way for me to stream as opposed to YouTube.

Joel Castro replied to the topic Streaming No Man's Sky Tomorrow in the forum Shooting the Shit 8 years, 3 months ago
My goal is to be a researcher of new species. I’m trying to catalogue every plant and animal I can find on each planet. Good wat to get money, too. Trading is gonna be a secondary profession, as soon as I figure out what sells best in each system. And try to find a good combat ship (died twice to pirates already)

It’s so people can more easily find other player’s discoveries without flipping through complicated generated names. It allows player data sharing while somehow remaining (mostly) single player. It’s pretty neat, actually.

Lol maybe I’ll stream from Twitch next time. I just like to archive my shenanigans, and Twitch doesn’t do that, as far as I know.

It wasn’t their first game. That would be Joe Danger. Plus, having played it for several hours now, it FEELS like a $60 game. Simple mechanics, yes, but the depth of the crafting, trading, and exploration takes it very far. All while using up only 6GB on my PS4 (seriously, that alone is impressive give the sheer size of some planets).

Gameplay-wise, I agree. But as far as exploring for civilizations and new worlds….soooo much to discover.

Remember Soulharvester45. Streaming No Man’s Sky.

Well, for me, it was the chance to play a sci-fi game that actually has you exploring and discovering the entire world rather than unlocking a dark secret in an already established universe.

You read that right. I finally am able to get No Man’s Sky, and so why not celebrate by doing a stream? Will likely start around 11AM Eastern, so pop by to watch me play a brand new game for the first time. I guarantee some funny reactions.

That’s not a bad idea either. I have to replay it from the beginning though. Haven’t played it in a long time. Could probably finish it in a day (I’m that good at it).
