Fans eager to get their hands on the Playstation 4K will be happy to know the upgraded gaming console may be hitting store shelves sooner, rather than later. A major multimedia distributor from France, Innelec Multimedia, has confirmed the release of the “PS4 Neo 4K” in the press release for the expected financial results for the upcoming year. According to Innelec, “the fiscal forecast for 2016/2017 should be pushed by the videogame industry, during the first half of our fiscal year, with the arrival of the PS4 Neo 4K, an evolution of Sony’s PS4 console with new features and the release in October 2016 of the virtual reality handset the Sony VR.” This would put the release window for the PS4K earlier than October when Sony intends to launch the Playstation VR headset.

First reported by otaxou.fr, who have also uploaded the pdf from the report (Local mirror here), the report also makes note of the March 2017 release for Nintendos new NX console. Noticeably absent was any mention of a new console from Microsoft. With rumors swirling that Microsoft has their own upgraded Xbox platform in the works to compete with the PS4K and the NX, this would indicate that device may not be releasing until later in 2017, or the rumors simply aren’t true.

OtaXou has also stated that a “trusted source” told him that The Last Guardian “will arrive on the PS4 this October in France.” If true, this would leave Sony in a very strong position this coming October with the 4K, VR Headset, and the highly desired The Last Guardian all coming out at the same time. One way or another, it’s going to be an expensive month.
