Ubisoft have unveiled the latest game in the Far Cry franchise.
Despite the fact Far Cry 5 came out in March, Ubisoft have already announced the next game in the series and no, it’s not Far Cry 6. Instead, it’s another spin off title (similar to Far Cry Primal) that picks up where the Hope County saga left off. Warning, there are major spoilers for the Far Cry 5 plot ahead.
Far Cry New Dawn sees you and a friendĀ survive in New Hope County, a flora-rich land created by the nuclear winter which caused a ‘superbloom’. If you finished Far Cry 5, you may remember the world was nuked by The Father (or not, depending on which outcome you chose). The game takes place seventeen years after the events of Far Cry 5 and may include some familiar faces, with the father being among that list.
Survivors of the catastrophic event have begun to rebuild a community but face a new threat; The Highwaymen. Led by twin sisters Micky and Lou. The game’s website shared some details on their character:
“With Mickey’s calculated planning and Lou’s impulsive, unpredictable nature, the two of them make a deadly leadership duo. And having gone to extreme lengths to take over the Highwaymen, they have already shown that they will stop at nothing to stay at the top of the food chain.”
The game features a new base system; dubbed the homebase, this is your center of operations. Parts can be upgraded, in turn giving you better weapons and gear. Expeditions can also be conducted to far flung lands such as the coast.
Players can register their interest and receive a survival kit to help them in the apocalyptic wasteland. Pre-ordering the game will grant you an exclusive Unicorn Trike Skin.
Far Cry New Dawn is out on PC, PS4 and Xbox One February 15th 2019.
