On the house offers terminated
EA has swept their PC-exclusive giveaway program – aptly dubbed ‘On The House’ – under the carpet after rolling out the Origin Access Service onto PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The new service – revealed at E3 – offers access to EA’s latest venerable franchise titles such as Battlefront 2, Sims 4 and the soon to be released Battlefield V, Anthem, FIFA 19 and Madden NFL 19; the package also includes a whole heap of lesser-known titles and third-party games. The full list can be found here.
The service will set you back $4.99 for its most primitive plan which comprises of 10% off all Origin games, 10-hour trials of the latest titles and entry to all the games in the vault. The premier version costs a walloping $19.99 a month, squeezing all vault titles, a 10% discount for Origin Games, access to the latest DLC and the newest games for free (the costs are covered in the subscription).
EA Access Service launched yesterday and so EA ceased the occasion to submerge their giveaway program into the cold hard ground; first introduced in 2014, On The House has provided gamers with a free source of classic titles such as Dead Space, Plants vs Zombies, Peggle and Battlefield 3. It also sported retro entries including the likes of Wing Commander 3, Dungeon Keeper and Theme Hospital. The comprehensive list of games can be found here. Games were on the house for a set number of days (commonly just over a month) and prompted collectors to enter a state of EA ecstasy. All good things must come to an end and although it’s not coherent why EA suspended the service although we can presume it’s partly due to shifting all spotlights onto their Access Service. Surely this isn’t the end of free crap from EA and they’ll find a way to dispense us Peggle when we need it most.
