Steam Link App Arriving on Mobile Later this Month

Link app out soon

Valve has announced they are introducing two new apps to the mobile market, one being a portable version of the Steam Link.

That’s right, get ready to play Far Cry 5 on your daily commute! Well, not quite; the app will require a 5Ghz connection meaning unless your mobile data is future tech or you have a generous hotspot. As sad as this may be to users, they’ll still be happy to know this means playing PC games around the house is still very possible. But it’s not only phones that can relish in portable glory, the Apple TV, and smart TV’s running Android can also run the app but an ethernet cable is required.

If the app is a port of the Link then it’ll stream your games from a PC that needs to be on to make the connection. Lag may be a common experience for those with slower internet. The app will launch in beta and will feature controller support for both MFI controllers and Valve’s very own Steam controller. Will you guys be using this app? Let us know in the comments.

The Steam Link app will be out sometime in the week of 21st May.
