Possible Next Setting for Assassin’s Creed Rumored

Assassin’s Creed seems to be heading to Ancient Greece in 2019

Rumors are starting to arise about the next installment of the Assassin’s Creed series and though many of us are still working on finishing up Origins, it is still exciting to think about the next area where will be performing some really awesome parkour moves.  There have been several rumors about where the next game would actually be, but recent evidence has been able to pinpoint one place in particular: Ancient Greece. Honestly, that should be enough to get you excited already.

Allow me to first point out the source of these rumors.  Liam Robertson is a writer for comicbook.com and has several sources that are in some way connected to Ubisoft.  The reason to take his word over someone else’s is simply that he has proven himself.  Before Assassin’s Creed Origins was properly announced, he found out not only that the game was going to be in Egypt, but that the actual name was going to be Origins, not Empire.  So yes, this is just a rumor.  By E3 of this year, this article could be complete rubbish. However, Roberson’s sources have been trustworthy so far, so I have no reason to be overly speculative.  More importantly, it was thought that Greece was originally supposed to be in Origins until Ubisoft found they could go further than they realized with it and decided to save it for a later game.  If that is in fact true, then there were probably already many designs and historical figures being developed.  So it seems like a logical next step.

The most important thing about this however is Greece itself.  Having been to Greece I can tell you first hand that the country is absolutely gorgeous meaning that the viewpoints should be breathtaking.  Of course this is so early on that where we would be in Greece in unknown but I’m thinking Athens is a pretty safe bet.  So expect to see the Acropolis and Parthenon in all their glory.  Perhaps we’ll see Sparta and will be able to re-enact the movie 300. Don’t tell me I’ll be the only doing that.  Plus think of all the people we might be meeting.  Homer, Plato, Hippocrates… the list goes on.

Hopefully these rumors are true, because there is a lot of potential for this, and considering that development supposedly started in 2017, before Origins was released, and this game won’t be releasing until 2019, Ubisoft has plenty of time to make this game truly spectacular.  They did it with Origins and I have all the faith in the world that they will be able to do it again.
