Sony has announced they will be reducing the base price of their console, the PS4 Pro in Japan.
The change was revealed via a post on the PlayStation Japan Blog yesterday which detailed that the previous price of 44,980 yen ($395) would be slashed to 39,980 yen ($351). Sony didn’t give a reason as to why this change happened but we believe it has something to do with the recent announcement from Sony CEO John Kodera who claimed the PlayStation 4 ‘is coming to the end of its life cycle’.
Speculation has begun that similar price drops will take place in Europe and US in an attempt to shift units just in time for the Holidays. At the time of writing, Sony America nor Sony Europe have given a statement regarding price drops in their region.
The price drop will take effect on Friday, 12th October
