Rumor – No Have Single Player For Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Will Include Battle Royale Instead

A pair of reports came out today from Polygon and charlieINTEL detailing Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s plans for a single-player campaign, or lack thereof. According to multiple sources with both sites, Treyarch began to realize that the single-player campaign being developed would not be completed by it’s October 12th, 2018 release date. Because of this, the studio has decided to focus on their various multiplayer modes with an emphasis towards co-operative modes. In their report, charlieINTEL added that their sources have indicated that Raven Software has been tasked with adding a Battle Royale mode to the game.

Between this rumor and the one stating that Modern Warfare 2 will not have any multiplayer I think the best thing Activision could do is focus all of the efforts on the MW2 remaster to add the multiplayer modes back in and release that this year while delaying Black Ops 4 until they have a complete game ready next year.

Unfortunately, it would appear that they have learned absolutely nothing from the struggles experienced by Bungie with Destiny 2 or the multitude of big titles to fail in recent years due to missing components that are expected in a modern game. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will still sell, but surely a large contingent of followers will opt to skip this year’s offerings as both are unquestionably incomplete.

We will know whether or not this information is true in exactly one month. Activision is set to reveal details regarding Black Ops 4 on May 17th, 2018.
