Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Port Hinted at in Source Code

Red Dead Redemption is confirmed for PC? Kinda.

A recent delve into the source code for Rockstar Social Club (the company’s answer to Steam)by Twitter user JakoMako51 shows an interesting little line titled ‘RDR2_PC_Accomplishments’.

A PC port was leaked earlier this year when a former programmer at Rockstar listed work on a PC port for the game on their Linkedin profile.

At this point, it’s safe to assume the game is coming to PC, but Rockstar are yet to comment whether their 2018 open world epic will be coming to the platform. Furthermore, what storefronts it will be available on, although it’s looking to be an Epic Games Store exclusive given Borderlands 3 is present, which is a title set to release under the same publisher – 2K. This is of course speculation, as nothing has been confirmed.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was released last year for PS4 and Xbox One; a follow-up to 2010’s open world western adventure. The game garnered a slew of positive scores from review sites, as well as earning several awards. The development did however drum up some controversy.

It was exposed that employees of Rockstar were working 100 hour weeks to deliver the game in time, resulting in an unhealthy crunch culture that is heavily frowned upon in the industry.

Red Dead Redemption is out now on Xbox One and PS4. A PC port is yet to be confirmed.
