Nintendo Announces SNES Classic, Includes Star Fox 2.

Fret not Nintendo fans, Nintendo have announced their plan to further crush your childhood dreams. The Super Nintendo Classic Edition is real and it’s coming September 29th, 2017 with 21 games included for $79.99 USD. That said, you might want to pitch a tent outside your local Game Stop to reserve your spot in line. Nintendo has shown no signs that they are capable of producing enough of any console to meet demands. I doubt anyone will be surprised if there are mass shortages on the Super Nintendo Classic shortly after launch.

The most notable game is the previously unreleased Star Fox 2, a game which was originally completed but shelved to make room for the impending release of the Nintendo 64. Some other highlights include Contra III: The Alien Wars, Earthbound, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, and Super Metroid. See the full list of 21 games below.

  • Contra III: The Alien Wars
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • EarthBound
  • Final Fantasy VI
  • F-Zero
  • Kirby Super Star
  • Kirby’s Dream Course
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Mega Man X
  • Secret of Mana
  • Star Fox
  • Star Fox 2
  • Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts
  • Super Mario Kart
  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
  • Super Mario World
  • Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
  • Super Metroid
  • Super Punch-Out

Overall this is a pretty good lineup of great SNES games. I can’t help feeling like a few are missing, specifically sequels to other games included. Final Fantasy VI is great but what about IV or V? Then there’s Megaman X but not XII, XIII or 7? What games do you think are missing from this console? Let us know in the comments below.
