With all the new game announcements today one would have thought a major press event had been held. Sadly no, there was no event, but there have been plenty of new games announced today, including this gem from former Senior Developers on an assortment of BioShock titles and Dishonored.
Question Games announced a new “cooperative paranormal horror mystery” game called The Blackout Club. A story about “vulnerable heroes – for whom co-op gameplay is a matter of survival – who unite to save their friend.” Set in a small town with a monstrous secret, The Blackout Club follows a group of teens who band together after learning they’ve all been temporarily losing consciousness – waking up in strange places with no memory of what they have done. When one of their close friends vanishes, they band together to launch an investigation, leading them to discover a “hostile underworld filled with hypnotic music populated by a clandestine group of adults.”
The game will require you and your friends to capture evidence of the conspiracy on your smart phone to prove its existence to the rest of the world. Players will have to survive the dangers of the night and avoid sleepwalking adults, including neighbors and relatives, that seek to drag them underground. Characters will be customizable with a variety of powers and equipment with each member playing a distinct role. Meanwhile, the game world will be “richly simulated with many ways to overcome and obstacle” with “each new night a new adventure, no two are just alike.”
The Blackout Club will be available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in Q1 2019.
