Borderlands 3 has a new trailer and it’s full of roses.
Gearbox unveiled the trailer after teasing something big, asking fans to join them for a ‘celebration of togetherness’. The result was a trailer, set to the classic song ‘Happy Together’ by The Turtles, featuring the new vault hunters slaughtering waves of psychos effortlessly.
The trailer is released just days ahead of San Diego Comic Con, where Gearbox are showcasing their museum of mayhem – giving attendees a chance to view Borderlands 3 artwork, as well as partake in a cosplay contest.
Borderlands 3 was announced back in March during PAX East. Unlike the technical difficulty-ridden conference, the announcement of a new Borderlands title in 4 years (7 if you exclude the pre-sequel) impressed fans. Also included was a remaster and port to new generation consoles of the original Borderlands, as well as texture remasters for the Handsome Collection.
Controversy did occur however when Gearbox made the move to release Borderlands 3 as an Epic exclusive first, causing backlash in the PC community. Many pledged to boycott the game and wait for the game to release on Steam while others claimed they are set to pirate the game. Gearbox co-founder Randy Pitchford responded to the drama, claiming Steam would be a ‘dying store’ and failed to understand the differences between The Epic Games Store and Steam.
Despite the drama, Borderlands 3 has received a warm reception from both long-time fans and newcomers, plotting its course to be one of 2019’s best looter shooters.
Borderlands 3 is out September 20th on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
