2018 is the year dayz finally comes out of early access.
Bohemia Interactive, creators of popular survival game DayZ announced this week that the game will be leaving early access on Steam and heading into beta in 2018. In addition, it was also revealed that DayZ will be coming to at least one console.
DayZ was first introduced as a mod for ARMA 2 in 2009 and came out as a standalone game in 2013. It has been 4 years now and the game has seen a plethora of changes.
The devs have announced a massive set changes through a status report showcasing everything they have planned out from new content, like firearms and animals, to gameplay mechanics like waterpipe animations. Here’s a rundown of some key changes:
- Ladder climbing
- Player Dynamics
- Player inertia
- Player turns
- Weapon systems
- Other Changes
- new crafting
- new central economy
- new zombies
- new animals
Interestingly, only Xbox was mentioned in the status report when talking about consoles, which could indicate one of two things; The first being that DayZ may be a PC and Xbox One exclusive or they are looking to bring the game to Xbox One first. It may join the Xbox insider program which lets Xbox players test games early like Sea of Theives. Is DayZ still crossplatform? We’ll have to wait and see. If you are a fan of DayZ we highly recommend you check out the full post.
The DayZ 0.63 update will see the end of the 4 year long Alpha and bring in a heap of new changes but will it be enough to change the mixed reviews on Steam? We hope so.
