Seriously, why isn’t this a thing yet? Let’s make a full thread discussing our choices for Game of the Year. We’ll discuss certain games at a time, and figure out whether or not we, as a site, agree it should be a contender or at least part of a GOTY list (so, how is that happening?)

Let’s start with an easy and early point of discussion: Dark Souls III.

Leave your opinions one at a time. Debate if you must. I’ll hold off on this one, as my opinion has already been put into review form (go read it).

Honestly, I did not play DS3 yet, but I don’t think it would be a GOTY contender anyway. I’m not saying I don’t think the game is good, I’ve seen a lot of the game and I know it is an excellent game. The problem is the game is too difficult for the majority to even be able to have any fun, and even many who do have fun never come close to finishing it.

I would prefer starting with a list of games and whittling it down from there. I’d also rather do multiple categories because while DS3 is not an ‘overall’ GOTY contender in my mind, I’d seriously consider it for RPGOTY.

Truth is I already have my own personal top 5 contenders and I know which game I consider the GOTY for 2016. Part of why I’d rather see multiple categories, so other great game can get the recognition they deserve.

I’d like to vote if we’re doing GOTY awards here but what is the best way to go about it? Is there going to be one list put up and we choose from that or do you want lists from us all individually? If so what categories do we use etc, same as above?

I’m probably overcomplicating things, but yeah count me in to vote for some games !
